Cala Nova

in Beaches, Santa Eularia

Cala Nova – take a dip in the azure blue water and chill on the golden sandy beach.

Cala Nova – is a beautiful beach in the northeast of the island. This idyllic bay with a long stretch of sandy beach is located just above Es Canar and is not only popular among beaches lovers (young and older), but also among surfers.

Cala Nova is a wonderful beach located in an environment that preserves its natural state, with hardly any buildings in the surroundings and surrounded by pine forests ideal for a walk. This charming cove is located in the municipality of Santa Eularia, very close to Es Canar and San Carlos.

Perfect for families, tourists and water activities fans

Undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast of the Ibizan coastline, frequented above all by tourists who stay at the hotel at the southern end and at the establishments in the adjoining tourist area of Es Canar.

Despite the fact that we are facing a small beach, Cala Nova invites us with its clean sand and waters to take a dip on good weather days. It is a beach that is very open to the sea, which means that the water is always fresh and clean as long as it is not too windy. And it is that the southeast orientation of this beach causes the winds to attract a large number of waves towards land.

Like other coves on the coast of Santa Eulària, it requires going quite deep into the water until it covers it, making it ideal for children. However, it is an open beach and sometimes the wind raises waves. Bathers who move away from the shore should be careful with the currents, which are a little stronger in this area.

Although it is a beach that does not cover much at first, you must pay attention to the signaling flags at the rescue stations, since the winds and currents can be strong in this part of the island, so caution is required. On the other hand, windy days make  Cala Nova one of the best beaches in Ibiza for practicing water sports. Despite the weather benefits of the island, on this beach, it is common to observe surfing or kitesurfing on days when the wind is noticeable.

Cala Nova, Santa Eularia, Ibiza, Balearic Islands

It is a well-known, familiar and quiet beach, frequented by tourists and residents of the nearby tourist area Es Canar. On the right side of the beach, on your left, you will find another small cove called Cala Llenya.

Where to eat?

There are several restaurants on the shores of the beach, with different types of cuisine from the most traditional to the most modern, and a beach bar on the sand where you can cool off or eat something with excellent views of the sea and various accommodation options. However, we can say that it is a well-preserved beach with a beautiful rural setting.

How to get there?

The fastest way starts from Es Canar. 100 meters before the car park in this tourist area, there is a road to the left. You have to take the second street on the left and, when you reach a crossroads, turn right. The beach is at the end of this street. You can also reach a pine forest located in the northern part of the shore -the most virgin-, from the surroundings of Cala Llenya (Sant Carles), crossing the La Joya urbanization and taking a dirt road.
