The Shark Makes its Appearance in Ibiza

As beachgoers soaked up the sun and enjoyed the waters, the peaceful afternoon suddenly took an exhilarating turn. Eyewitnesses noticed a shark swimming close to the rocks and the shore. The captivating creature, identified as a blue shark, gracefully glided through the water. Although blue sharks belong to the Carcharhinidae family and usually reside in deep waters, this one decided to make a rare appearance close to the coast. Typically, blue sharks prefer temperatures between 8 to 21 degrees Celsius, which explains why they are more likely to be found in deeper waters where temperatures are cooler.

Previous Sightings

Interestingly, this is not the first time that a blue shark has graced the shores of Ibiza. Last year in mid-May, people sighted a two-meter-long blue shark in the Caló des Moro area of Sant Antoni. Furthermore, blue sharks have also made appearances around Formentera and Mallorca.
