Break-In In Sant Antoni Bar: Thief Steals €500 In A 30-Second Smash-And-Grab

in News, Police

A rapid smash-and-grab break-in in Sant Antoni Bar Urban has sparked concern among residents and local business owners. The thief used force to break the bar’s front window and stole cash and equipment without confronting anyone. Authorities classify the event as burglary with force, not a violent robbery, since no intimidation or threat occurred.

A Fast 30-Second Entry

Bar Urban

The incident happened around 3:00 a.m. on Monday. Bar Urban, located on Calle Soledat, suffered damage when the thief smashed the front glass, entered the bar, and removed the cash drawer in seconds. The drawer held roughly €300, while another €200 came from the tip jar. The thief also grabbed the bar’s company mobile phone used for orders. The entire action lasted around thirty seconds.

Owner Arrives To Find The Window Destroyed

A neighbour called the owners when they heard the sound of breaking glass. The owner, who lives nearby, arrived shortly after the police. He described the scene as chaotic, with the window frame damaged and the interior disturbed. Despite the break-in, the bar reopened on Tuesday. A temporary cardboard sheet now covers the broken window until the replacement arrives next week.

Insurance Procedures Under Way

The owner is currently waiting for the insurance company to assess the damages. The policy covers the broken window, but the stolen items remain under evaluation. Curiously, the alarm did not activate during the break-in, raising questions about how quickly the thief worked.

A Known Repeat Offender

The Guardia Civil confirmed that the burglar is already known to the authorities and has several previous incidents on record. Officers took the report and continue to investigate the case. The break-in has reignited discussions about off-season security and the vulnerability of businesses during quieter winter months.

The break-in in Sant Antoni bar has left the community frustrated, especially as residents recognise the suspect from past incidents.
