Ibiza Pride: Parade in Sant Antoni Kickstarts the Festivities

in Culture, Lifestyle, News

This year, Ibiza Pride comes to life with its ninth edition, bringing a plethora of events to celebrate diversity and the LGBTQ+ community. The director of Ibiza Pride, Antonio Balibrea, unveiled a thrilling line-up for the festival that kicks off on Friday, June 9th. The festivities start with an exciting twist as the LGBTIQ+ Parade takes place in Sant Antoni for the first time.

Ibiza Pride Parade in Sant Antoni

Sant Antoni streets burst with vibrant colors and energy during the Ibiza Pride Parade on Friday. The parade, starting the festival, ends with a powerful declaration of LGBTIQ+ rights. The choice to host the parade in Sant Antoni adds a refreshing change and offers an opportunity for the community and allies to join together in solidarity.

Diversity Celebration Gala at Playa de s’Arenal

  • Playa de s’Arenal, the scenic beachside location, will host the third Diversity Celebration Gala on Saturday, June 10th.
  • Mikan, Ms Obama, and K-Syran, among others, will captivate the audience with their performances.
  • The gala, an integral part of Ibiza Pride, exemplifies the festival’s spirit of celebrating diversity through music and art.

Young&Proud Festival in Sant Josep

  • The Auditori Caló de s’Oli in Sant Josep will open its doors on Sunday, June 11th, for the second edition of the Young&Proud Festival.
  • Among the attractions, the musical Conecta2, choreographed by Yolanda Crespo, takes center stage. According to Balibrea, the musical is “an explosion of love with a wonderful LGBT story.”
  • In just 90 minutes after tickets were made available, the musical sold out. Fortunately, Crespo’s company will perform the finale outside Caló de s’Oli to accommodate more attendees.

Additional Highlights

The Ibiza Pride event will also feature:

  • A screening of the short film ‘Soc Maricó’, directed by Javi Riera, on Thursday as part of the Ibiza Pride program.
  • Local merchants organize special programs and music along Calle de la Virgen in support of Ibiza Pride.
  • Performances by Acrobati-K, supported by Carol Brest, a regular contributor to Pride.

Furthermore, Antoni Martí, the president of the La Llave del Armario Association, and representatives from different sectors of the community attended the presentation to show their support.

Conclusion

Ibiza Pride 2023 promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees. The Sant Antoni parade will kick off the festival, featuring galas, music, and films. This celebration of love and diversity creates a space for the LGBTIQ+ community and its allies to come together and revel in unity.
