Playa d’en Bossa fire arrests: Ibiza suspects held in Valencia

Guardia Civil officers have confirmed the Playa d’en Bossa fire arrests after detaining two individuals in Valencia. The arrests follow a deliberate blaze that razed three commercial venues and risked residents’ safety in Ibiza.

What unfolded

In the early hours of 10 June, a fire broke out beneath a residential building with 193 apartments in Ibiza’s Playa d’en Bossa. It consumed two restaurants and a cannabis club. Security staff, local residents and both the Guardia Civil and Policía Local stepped in. Their swift response allowed them to evacuate residents, five of whom suffered smoke inhalation

Investigation points to arson

Guardia Civil’s judicial team in Ibiza launched an in‑depth investigation. The criminal laboratory concluded the blaze was intentional. Reports reveal that the female suspect had been asked to leave one venue due to aggressive behaviour. Alongside the male suspect, she had been causing issues and sleeping in nearby dunes.

Two escalating fires

At around 01:00, after venues had closed, the pair returned to ignite a small fire. This burnt out quickly. They came back half an hour later with an accelerant, triggering a second, much larger blaze that engulfed all three venues. The fire also damaged the dune ecosystem in front of the businesses.

Local teams evacuated nearly 60 apartments across three staircases of the Bossamar building. Fire crews, along with SAMU medics, tackled the inferno until daylight. One firefighter received a minor burn. Repair costs to the premises reportedly exceed €700,000 .

The arrest

On Sunday, the suspects left Ibiza by ferry to Valencia. The Guardia Civil in Valencia arrested them at the port, having already been alerted. They now face charges for an arson attack that endangered lives and caused substantial property and ecological damage.
