Police Surveillance at Ses Illetes Beach Reinforced to Tackle Illegal Vendors

Formentera Strengthens Police Surveillance at Ses Illetes Beach for a Safer Summer
The Consell de Formentera has taken a firm step towards public safety and beach order by activating a dedicated police surveillance at Ses Illetes beach. This new initiative aims to deter unauthorised vendors and ensure a peaceful experience for locals and tourists alike.
On Tuesday, Formentera president Óscar Portas and local police chief Félix Ramos visited the newly established surveillance post located in the Ses Salines Natural Park. The small, visible police station is not only a functional base but also a clear symbol of the island’s commitment to maintaining order and control.
A Visible and Constant Police Presence
The new outpost enhances the island’s ability to respond quickly to issues on the beach. With a fixed patrol of two to three officers, a motorbike, a jet ski, and a beach hut as their operational centre, the police surveillance at Ses Illetes beach runs daily from May to September, between 10 am and 6 pm.
President Portas emphasised the significance of this post during its presentation, stating, “This hut is not just a tool. It stands for our presence and our promise to protect public order on our beaches.”
Coordinated and Preventive Model
This strategic police measure represents a permanent and coordinated model of preventive action, especially during peak tourism months. It gives beachgoers a clear contact point and helps improve safety and the overall visitor experience.
With its proactive stance, the surveillance at Ses Illetes beach sets a strong precedent for managing public spaces in Formentera.
