Ricardo Urgell returns to the world of nightlife with a local in Formentera
“Being unemployed bores me,” confesses the businessman, who sold his empire in 2017
The Catalan businessman Ricardo Urgell has confirmed in an interview with Vanitatis magazine that he is going to “set up another mess in Formentera”. Along with two other businessmen from the island, Urgell will return to the world of leisure after selling his empire, which was home to the Pachá Ibiza nightclub, for around 290 million euros in 2017. He admits that he sold because his children “did not want that life “, but even today he feels” very sorry. “
This project has no name yet but two local businessmen, Stefano Trigo and Juanma Costa, are involved. The first one assured this newspaper that the place will not be called ‘Lío’, for the simple reason that it is a registered trademark that they cannot use. They even manage three possible names for the premises, although the three partners have not yet decided on the final name.
The establishment is located in the town of Es Pujols and has always been open. According to the same sources, he is pending an administrative permit to start the reform works of the establishment. The idea, they point out from the local management, is that they can open for the next season.
One of the partners, Stefano Trigo, pointed out that the intention is to offer a nightlife product based on gastronomy and “entertaining with artists.” In any case, he preferred to be cautious before finalizing the project until he had all the permits.
Ricardo Urgell, at 84 years old, still has a young spirit and not many days ago he could be seen eating in a popular cafeteria in Sant Francecsc, together with the partners in this project. In the interview that he has granted to Vanitatis he assures: “Being unemployed bores me”, despite the requests of his daughter to stop getting “in fregaos”, he is determined to carry out this new project in Formentera .
An icon of the night for many, Ricardo Urgell confesses to Vanitatis feeling little satisfaction with the “hustle and bustle.” “I enjoyed the project and the success, that was my adrenaline.”
Asked about this publication about the famous people he has known throughout his life, Urgell mentions that “the world of the night is very superfluous” when it comes to friends. “If you ask me about celebrities, well yes, I have met many, but hello and goodbye.” “The only one who was very, very, very friendly was Ángel Nieto, but on the island, not because of the discos,” the businessman recalled.
