Avicii’s Last Performance: Unseen Footage from Ibiza
Video has been unearthed from Avicii’s final live performance prior to his passing.
Unearthed footage has emerged from Avicii’s last-ever live performance at Ibiza’s Ushuaïa in 2016, featuring the late DJ and producer playing his hit track ‘Addicted To You’ from his 2013 album ‘True’. The show was held on August 28, 2016, and was followed by Avicii’s announcement of retirement from live performances and touring.
Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, had performed around 220 DJ sets worldwide between January 1, 2011 and January 1, 2016. The video was released on the official Avicii YouTube channel and was captioned with “In loving memory of Tim ‘Avicii’ Bergling (1989-2018)”. Viewers of the video have hailed Avicii as a “genius” and a “legend”.
Mental Health
Avicii’s struggle with mental health was a public issue before his untimely death by suicide in Oman in 2018, at the age of 28. The producer had previously shared how touring had taken a significant toll on his mental health, leading to his decision to retire from live shows.
In Stockholm, the Avicii Experience, an exhibition that showcases the life and career of Avicii, opened in 2019. The exhibit gives an immersive experience of Avicii’s journey, from his early production beginnings to his meteoric rise to international fame, ending with his impressive list of records. A portion of the exhibition’s ticket sales goes to The Tim Bergling Foundation, a charity created by the Avicii family, to honor his memory and continue his legacy.
