Ibiza Council fines five illegal tourist rentals with over €120,000

The Ibiza Council has fined the managers of five illegal tourist rentals in Jesús and Sant Josep a total of €120,000. The Council’s tourist inspection service issued four fines of €20,000 and one of €40,000 after finding that the apartments were operating as tourist rentals without the corresponding responsible declaration of tourist activity and for advertising, hiring and marketing this type of accommodation in Ibiza without complying with the current regulations.

According to the Council’s press release, “all the apartments were advertised without having presented the responsible declaration of the start of tourist activity and without being registered in the island’s register of tourist companies, activities and establishments through two platforms that have availability calendars, check-in and check-out indications, reservation cancellations, and other services oriented towards tourist enjoyment”.

The Council’s department against intrusiveness reminds that they “signed a protocol with the commercialization platform Airbnb that allows identifying the lessors of these illegal tourist rentals more easily, streamlining administrative procedures to instruct sanctioning files”.
