The suspect, who had worked at the company until a few months prior, used the fuel card to offer people discounted gas in exchange for cash. He claimed the card was nearing its expiration and could be used to earn points. This false narrative allowed him to convince strangers to participate in the scam, where they paid less than the fuel they received.
